VAT Specialist (M/F/D)
Permanent contract (CDI) - 40 hours/week

About the Role

As a VAT Specialist, you will join our Tax Department in Luxembourg and play a key role in supporting a diverse portfolio of national and international clients on Luxembourg and EU VAT matters.

You will be involved in both VAT advisory and VAT compliance assignments, working closely with clients, tax authorities and internal teams. The position offers the opportunity to progressively take ownership of client relationships, develop technical expertise across a broad range of VAT topics and contribute to complex cross-border projects.

Key Responsibilities

VAT Advisory

  • Advise clients on Luxembourg and international VAT matters across various industries
  • Draft VAT memoranda, technical notes and written advice
  • Analyse VAT risks and provide practical, commercially oriented solutions
  • Contribute to technical VAT projects and advisory assignments involving Luxembourg and international VAT matters
  • Monitor Luxembourg, EU VAT and case law developments and assess their practical implications for clients
  • Assist clients during VAT audits and VAT authority reviews

VAT Compliance

  • Prepare, review and file Luxembourg VAT returns and related VAT compliance obligations
  • Ensure the technical accuracy and consistency of VAT positions adopted
  • Support clients in improving and securing their VAT reporting processes
  • Liaise with VAT authorities regarding registrations, audits and ongoing VAT matters

Client & Team Contribution

  • Manage a portfolio of national and international clients
  • Progressively take ownership of client relationships and become a trusted point of contact for VAT matters
  • Work closely with the accounting, corporate and direct tax teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Support and coach team members when appropriate
  • Actively contribute to knowledge sharing and the continuous development of the VAT practice

Your Profile

Experience

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in VAT compliance and advisory within an accounting firm, tax advisory firm or similar professional services environment
  • Experience dealing with Luxembourg VAT matters is required
  • Exposure to international VAT issues would be considered an advantage

Education

  • Degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Management or Law

Languages

  • Fluent in English and French
  • German would be considered a strong asset
  • Any additional language is considered an advantage

Key Responsibilities

Periodic review of legal files (AML/CTF – KYC)

  • Review of corporate legal documentation
  • Application of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing legislation (identification of beneficial owners, filings with the Register of Beneficial Owners, name checks against sanctions lists, analysis of economic background)
  • Monitoring of domiciliation obligations (contracts and amendments, regulatory compliance)

Preparation of legal documents

  • Drafting minutes of Ordinary and Extraordinary General Meetings as well as meetings of Boards of Directors / Managers
  • Preparation and filing of registration applications with the Trade and Companies Register / Register of Beneficial Owners
  • Filing of annual accounts and required forms
  • Preparation of engagement letters
  • Drafting contracts (share transfer agreements, loan agreements, etc.)
  • Preparation of powers of attorney, attendance lists, and shareholders’ registers
  • Preparation of business permit application files for submission to the Ministry of the Economy

Pre-litigation and litigation

In cooperation with Management:

  • Client reminders in the event of unpaid invoices / monitoring of overdue payments
  • Applications for payment orders or enforceable titles
  • Liaison with lawyers or bailiffs for debt recovery procedures

Your Profile

  • Recent law graduate (Master 1 or Master 2)
  • Excellent command of French and English (any additional language will be considered an asset)
  • Accuracy, organizational skills, and analytical mindset
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
